WASHINGTON COUNTY — Eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 near Nashville were at a standstill for several hours Wednesday night after a semi-trailer caught fire near milepost 47.
According to Sg.t Mark Cameron with the Illinois State Police, the incident happened around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday and eventually resulted in eastbound I-64 being closed for several hours.
The driver of the semi was able to unhook from the trailer and there were no injuries involved.
The Nashville Fire Department responded to put out the blaze and Petroff and Isaac’s towing handled cleanup.
The Illinois Department of Transportation assisted with the closure, as well.
The interstate reopened around 2:30 Thursday morning.
