MARION COUNTY — Kell firefighters responded to a call Thursday morning of a semi truck on Interstate 57 on fire.
According to Fire Chief Lonnie McDaneld, firefighters were called out around 6:45 a.m. Thursday to mile marker 107 of the interstate.
McDaneld says the rear tires and axles of the semi-truck and the front of the flat bed trailer received extensive damage, but there was no damage to the cargo the truck that was being hauled. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Firefighters were on scene for about an hour. Damage is estimated at $35,000.
