SANDOVAL — A Centralia woman’s car is a total loss after catching fire Tuesday morning on U.S. 51 south of Bethel Road.

Sandoval firefighters report Alyssa Frakes was driving around 9:41 Monday morning when a mechanical problem caused the engine of her vehicle to catch fire. The fire burned the engine compartment before spreading to part of the vehicle’s passenger compartment.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
