CLAY COUNTY — A 42-year-old Xenia man was arrested Monday morning when he reportedly fled from Clay County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a report of a burglary in progress.

According to the sheriff’s department, around 8:21 a.m. Monday, deputies received a report of a burglary in progress at a property in Xenia Township.

Upon their arrival, deputies saw a subject flee the property. Deputies were able to develop a suspect during their initial investigation.

At approximately 1:48 p.m. the sheriff’s office received information on a possible location of the suspect.

Deputies responded to the location along with the Xenia Police Department and took Christopher S. Brown into custody on charges of Burglary and Possession of Burglary Tools.

At the time of his Monday arrest, Brown was on Pretrial Release on a Clay County case charging him with felony theft from a school or place of worship.

He’s currently held in the Clay County Jail awaiting his first appearance in court. The charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
