Gary Lyman Creed went to Heaven, peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, June 24, 2024.

He was born on July 10, 1945 and was the proud son of Lyman and Lorraine Creed. He loved his title of “baby brother” to his wonderful sister, Sandra (and the late Henry) Beguelin.

Gary married his grade school sweetheart, Sharon, on August 7, 1965 and together they raised three children, Dr. Angela Creed ( Dr. Edward Hengel), Scott Creed and Nicole Creed (Jeff Fleece).

He was a true cowboy at heart, growing up on his dairy farm in Hoyleton, Illinois. He put in countless hours behind the wheel of a tractor, enjoyed working at Irvington Elevator, being a board member of Community Trust Bank and was a lifetime member of the National Cutting Horse Association. Being around horses was a true hobby (or obsession) but his greatest joy was being a Papa to August, Macie Hengel and John, Nicholas Fleece.

Gary was a friend to all. When a severe stroke altered his body and his world in 2005, he became an example to us all on many levels. He held on to memories of his family and friends to the very last moment on earth. In his memory, please do something kind or helpful to someone else and think of him.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday June 30, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Entombment will take place at the Hillcrest Lakeside Mausoleum in Centralia.
