Carson Cooper, 78, of Centralia, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

He was born on Monday, December 17th, 1945 in Cool Ridge, West Virginia to the late Estes and Zella (Webb) Cooper. He married Barbara Lee on April 19, 1975, and she survives him in Centralia.

Carson is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara, son Carson Andrew Cooper of Centralia, three brothers, Bob Cooper and wife Jean of Indiana, Mike Cooper of West Virginia, Harold Cooper and wife Betty of Illinois, three sisters, Joyce Carrell and husband Phil of Ohio, Pauline Johnson of Illinois, and Dorothy Hoskens of Kentucky, as well as several nieces, nephews, and close friend Carol Cooper of Shattuc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Price and Zella Cooper, brothers Gene, Chester, Lowell, Sam, Roger, and Roy Cooper, sisters Helen Engelbright, Hattie Cradock, Faye Wood; and brothers-in-law Bill Johnson and Ray Hoskens.

Carson retired after 36 years from Graphic Packaging. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, bowling, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds baseball fan.

Funeral Services for Carson Cooper will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Curtis Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Fouts Christian Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
