JACKSON COUNTY — A Carbondale man was arrested Monday night in connection with a shooting that took place there late

Sunday night that sent one victim to the hospital where he ultimately died.

Carbondale Police say 21-year-old Quentin M. Bailey was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm warrant.
However, 27-year-old Broderick W. Miller, of DeSoto, was pronounced dead on the evening of Monday, May 11. Broderick had been sent to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with serious injuries from a gunshot wound.
 
Shortly after 11 p.m., Monday, Police went to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale concerning a report about someone being shot. During their investigation, officers identified Bailey as the suspect.
 
Other than the two charges mentioned, Bailey was also wanted on an Illinois Department of Corrections arrest warrant for violating conditions of his parole. He is being held in the Jackson County Jail on $1 million bond.
