JEFFERSON COUNTY — Members of the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department High Risk Team
arrested a 34-year-old Mt. Vernon man yesterday, after they developed information that drugs were being sold from a residence in the 400 block of Jordan Street in Mt. Vernon.
A search warrant for the home was secured after investigations by the MVPD/JCSO Narcotics Division developed information that cannabis was being sold from the residence.
After the residence was secured a search by Narcotics Division Detectives resulted in the recovery of approximately six pounds of cannabis, heroin, digital scales, and packaging materials.
Several thousand dollars worth of property was also discovered in the home, including televisions, car rims, stereo equipment and a vehicle were seized as items believed to have been purchased with drug proceeds.
One person, Desmond Taylor was located at the residence. Taylor was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail, charged with possession with intent to deliver between 30 and 500 grams of cannabis.
After completion of the investigation, arrest warrants will be requested for three other persons who were not at the residence at the time of the search.
