CENTRALIA — Centralia police responded late last night to a 911 call in which a female could be heard screaming in the background of an open phone line.
Officers arrived around 10:20 p.m. to a home on South Marion, where 36-year-old Walter Mancinelli reportedly forced his way into the home and battered the woman inside.
Reports say Mancinelli is homeless, but indicate a prior relationship between Mancinelli and the woman, who was reportedly injured in the incident, but did not seek medical attention.
Mancinelli was taken to the Marion County Jail, where prosecutors have filed a Class X felony charge against him for home invasion causing injury. Bail was set at $100,000, with conditions of release to have no contact with the alleged victim or her residence.
