SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Illinois and 13 other states will share in a four-million-dollar settlement with UPS over inflated claims of delivery times.
A whistleblower alerted authorities to the practice by some workers of recording inaccurate delivery times for government shipments and wrongly applying exception codes to avoid paying penalties for late deliveries.
The settlement brings six-hundred-46-thousand-dollars to the state and 24-thousand-dollars to the city of Chicago.
