GERMANTOWN – Authorities are reporting an 80-year-old Aviston man was killed Friday when his vehicle was struck by a train crossing at Breese-Germantown Road in Clinton County.

According to Clinton County Coroner Phil Moss, Stephen Hellmann was southbound on Breese-Germantown Road around 11:30 a.m. Thursday when a Norfolk Southern train collided with his vehicle. Moss says Hellmann died of blunt force injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:42 a.m.

Sheriff Doug Maue was not available for comment Friday and the department would not release any information, but more details are expected to be released Saturday.
