SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Entry deadlines are approaching for many of the competitions at the Illinois State Fair.

Livestock entries are due July 1. Rabbits and poultry entries are due July 10. The floriculture deadline is Aug. 1 except for the rose category, which has an Aug. 10 deadline.

The state fair hosts more than 8,700 contests. They include judged art shows, horse shows and cooking events.

Information can be found in the state fair premium books, which are available online and in print. The premium books contain descriptions of each event and regulations. They can be found at the state fair website under the “Competitions” tab. Print copies are available by calling (217) 782-0786.

The Illinois State Fair runs Aug. 11 through 21 at the fairgrounds in Springfield.
