URBANA, Ill. (AP) — A witness who was shot before he could testify in a central Illinois murder trial is expected to testify when proceedings resume next month.

The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports a judge on Monday allowed the trial of 19-year-old KyJuan Dorsey to resume Aug. 15.

The trial ended in a mistrial last month when witness Demetrius Lane was shot. Champaign County State’s Attorney Julia Rietz said Lane is expected to testify when the trial resumes.
