RICHMOND, Ill. (AP) — Farmers in northern Illinois drove their tractors down the streets of Richmond in a procession to honor a farmer killed in a crash last week.
Tractors and trucks paraded after 26-year-old Steven Thomas’ funeral on Thursday. Thomas died from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle crash last week.
Family friend Walter Bruhn tells The (Crystal Lake) Northwest Herald that the truck and tractor parade made sense because Thomas loved farming. Bruhn says Thomas had a lot of farmer friends and started working on farms when he was a boy.
Richmond is on the border with Wisconsin in McHenry County.
This isn’t the first time residents in the area have had a tractor funeral procession. Farmers honored another farmer with a more than 50-tractor procession in May 2015.
