CENTRALIA — An attempt to arrest a 38-year-old Centralia man Sunday night resulted in a high speed pursuit that started on the south side of Centralia and ended on Interstate 64 in Jefferson County.
According to Centralia Police Lt. Greg Dodson, officers attempted to arrest Charles Jackson around 8:30 Sunday night at the Brookside Trailer Court on drug and forgery charges.
Jackson reportedly fled in a blue sports car, but was located at 17th and South Poplar streets where a pursuit ensued and continued south on Highway 51 with speeds reaching 70 miles per hour.
The chase continued into Washington County where Jackson took the Interstate 64 on ramp east, and continued for approximately one mile into Jefferson County where he stopped and was taken into custody.
Dodson says Jackson is facing charges in both Marion and Clinton counties. He was processed at the Centralia Police Department before being transported to the Marion County Jail where he awaits the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
