WAYNE COUNTY — A 71-year-old rural Wayne City farmer died Monday afternoon after being knocked off his tractor.

Delbert E. Hunt was found dead in a field near the small village of Smithville, south of Wayne City.

According to the Wayne County Coroner, it appears Hunt may have been knocked off the tractor by a tree limb. Reports indicate the tractor and attached bush hog travelled several yards after the victim fell to the ground.

The cause of death appeared to be head trauma, but an autopsy has been scheduled for later Tuesday.
