Robert G. King pleaded guilty Tuesday to the October 31, armed robbery of the Huck’s Convenience Store on Benton Road in Mt. Vernon.

Police arrested King around 4:50 a.m. on Halloween, after they located him with property taken during an armed robbery of the Huck’s Store earlier that morning.

Police had responded around 1:10 a.m. to the Huck’s on a report of an armed robbery. Initial reports indicated a white male armed with a knife robbed the store of cash and merchandise.

Officers developed offender information and began searching for him at several Mt Vernon residences, ultimately arresting King. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail and was charged with Class X felony armed robbery.

In addition to the 10-year prison sentence, King will have to serve 3-years mandatory supervised release once his prison term is complete, and pay $170.14 in restitution. He was given 23 days credit for time served in jail since his arrest.
