MOUNT VERNON — Mt. Vernon police have arrested five subjects in connection with the overnight robbery of a pizza delivery driver.

Following an investigation, police arrested 19-year-old Omar Jackson, and 20-year-old Demonteze Rozier, for alleged robbery and mob action. They were taken to the Jefferson County Jail where they remain awaiting the formal filing of charges and setting of bail.

A 16-year-old juvenile male was also arrested for alleged robbery and mob action. He was taken to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center pending a court date in Jefferson County.

Two other juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were charged with Possession of Stolen Property. They were not able to be detained so they were released to their guardian.

According to reports, Mt. Vernon police officers responded around 1:44 a.m. Sunday to a report of a robbery which had occurred in the 300 Block of North 5th Street in Mt Vernon.

Initial dispatch reports indicated a pizza delivery driver had been robbed by several subjects. Officers made contact with the victim and began further investigating. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the robbery.

During the investigation, the officers made contact with a person of interest which led them to a residence in the 300 block of North 6th street. The officers eventually made contact with several subjects at the residence and secured a Jefferson County search warrant for the residence.

During a search of the residence, officers located property stolen during the robbery of the pizza delivery driver and additional property which was stolen during a previous robbery in Mt Vernon.

Additional charges are possible.
