MARION COUNTY — Two people are in the Marion County jail facing felony meth-related charges after sheriff’s deputies reportedly located two “shake and bake” meth labs and meth manufacturing materials in Junction City.

Deputies had arrested 44-year-old Gregory Brooks, of Junction City, over the weekend on an outstanding Missouri Department of Corrections warrant.

While Brooks was in custody, deputies acted on information they had developed that indicated meth activity where Brooks had been living in Junction City.

After receiving permission from the property owner to search the premises, deputies reportedly discovered two one-bottle meth labs in an abandoned vehicle on the property.

A further search reportedly revealed meth manufacturing waste in a burn barrel and meth manufacturing items in buildings on the property.

Brooks was then additionally charged with Class X felony participation in the manufacture of between 100 and 400 grams of meth, unlawful disposal of meth manufacturing waste, and possession of between 100 and 400 grams of meth.

The investigation then led deputies to 48-year-old Maureen Henson, of Kell, who had been identified as a possible supplier of materials used in the manufacture of meth at the Junction City location.

Henson was subsequently arrested for alleged possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Illinois State Police Meth Response Team was called to clean up the site in Junction City. Brooks and Henson both remain in the Marion County jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are anticipated.
