MARION COUNTY — The Marion County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the teenage boy who was struck and killed by a passing pickup truck Wednesday night in the 500 block of Country Club Lane on the east side of Centralia.

According to Coroner Troy Cannon, 17-year-old Gavin P. Lutz was intentionally trying to step into oncoming traffic but was restrained by his mother from doing so until he broke free from her and entered the path of the oncoming truck.

Irvin-Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is assisting the family with arrangements.
