CHICAGO — A manhunt is on following a daring daytime escape of a man being arrested on a Chicago street for violating his Illinois Department of Corrections parole.

According to IDOC spokeswoman Nicole Wilson, 24-year-old Harron Raggs managed to escape custody while a parole agent was arresting him.

Raggs was reportedly being placed in an IDOC squad car Monday when he broke loose. A red Chevrolet Impala then crashed into the vehicle and picked up Raggs as he fled the IDOC vehicle. Raggs remains at large.

Police describe Raggs as a documented Traveling Vice Lords gang member serving a sentence for possession of a stolen vehicle and residential burglary.

Raggs is described as a 5-foot-9, 160-pound black man with brown hair and brown eyes, according to IDOC records. He has an “RIP Grandma” tattoo on his right forearm, a “Jayden” tattoo on his right hand, “Haylee” on his left hand, “Haylee” on his left hand, “Trust None” on his neck, and a cross with a tribal symbol on his right forearm.
