CENTRALIA — The 2017 Balloon Fest is pleased to welcome a new special shape to the 28th annual event.

Balloon Fest welcomes new special shape for 2017

Scuba, the deep sea diver balloon will make its first appearance at Balloon Fest August 18-19-20 in Foundation Park.

Scuba is sponsored by SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Centralia, a Major Sponsor of Balloon Fest.

The most unique feature of Scuba is his design. He is constructed as two balloons. His body is the traditional hot air balloon shape while his head is another round balloon. That is the biggest contributing factor to his height of 125′.

Roy Stinson will pilot the special shape balloon and has been ballooning since 1985 and has flown in the US, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Stinson currently lives in Louisville, KY and has been a balloon pilot for 30 years. He tells us he looks forward to be flying in our festival this year.
