VANDALIA — A 26-year-old Ramsey woman and her passenger were both injured Saturday night after a 16-year-old driver from Patoka reportedly struck their vehicle at an Illinois State Police Roadside Safety Checkpoint in Vandalia.
According to ISP, just after 10 p.m. Saturday, Danielle Beck, of Ramsey was slowing for an upcoming checkpoint Saturday night on U.S. 51 at West Orchard Street in Vandalia when her vehicle was stuck from behind by the juvenile’s vehicle.
Beck and a passenger in her car, 26-year-old Kristen Phillips of Mulberry Grove, were both transported to the Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia for treatment of injuries.
The 16-year-old was not hurt, but was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and traveling too fast for conditions.
