WASHINGTON COUNTY — Washington County authorities, along with members of the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System SWAT team responded Monday to the 28000 block of Poplar Road in rural Centralia for a 35-year-old man who had reportedly barricaded himself in his home.

The call came in just after 6 p.m. It’s unclear at this time what led the man to barricade himself in the home.

His identity has not yet been released but a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy transported him just after 8 p.m. Monday to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment after he apparently ingested numerous medications while he was barricaded.
