CENTRALIA — A 43-year-old Centralia man is in the Marion County Jail after he was arrested on a warrant charging him with sexual assault of a child.

Bail has been set at $250,000 for William McWilliams on two counts Class X felony predatory criminal sexual assault to a victim under the age of 13.

According to Centralia police, the warrant for McWilliams was issued after an investigation showed he allegedly assaulted an 11-year-old girl between April 1st and June 1st, 2016.

The investigation was launched when the Department of Children and Family Services notified CPD of the allegations on September 21. The Amy Center then interviewed the alleged victim and the warrant was sought on November 17th. Police say McWilliams and the victim knew each other.

Jefferson County authorities arrested McWilliams at his place of employment on Thursday at their request.

McWilliams is next scheduled to appear in Marion County court December 12th.
