JEFFERSON COUNTY — Bail has been set at $150,000 for a 39-year-old Mt. Vernon woman charged with drug-induced homicide in connection to a fatal overdose death Saturday.
Allyson K. Piper has been charged with a Class X felony for allegedly delivering heroin to David Beneway Saturday.
Beneway ingested a portion of that heroin which according to authorities caused his death.
Piper was arrested Sunday for alleged possession of narcotics.
She was later charged with drug-induced homicide, a Class X felony punishable by six to 30 years in prison if convicted.
Piper is already facing felony charges in separate Jefferson County cases of theft and forgery.
