CENTRALIA — A 20-year-old Centralia man took police on a pursuit on icy roads Tuesday, with the chase ending after his vehicle reportedly lost a tire.
According to Centralia police, Marlan Morgan passed a squad car on Lincoln Tuesday at a high rate of speed on ice covered roads. The officer then reportedly observed Morgan run two stop signs.
While traveling on Seventh Street near Poplar, Morgan’s vehicle reportedly struck a curb and his rear passenger side tire fell off the vehicle.
However, Morgan continued westbound on Seventh Street until the vehicle wouldn’t move. He was taken into custody for alleged driving while license suspended and on an outstanding Marion County warrant for failure to appear on a no insurance ticket.
Morgan was charged Wednesday in Marion County Court with two felony counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding police, and his bail was set at $5,000. He is next scheduled to appear in court February 6, first appearance with his court appointed attorney.
