CENTRALIA — Two Centralia men are in the Clinton County Jail on charges stemming from multiple shots that were fired early Tuesday morning outside a home in the 800 block of South Beech Street in Centralia.

According to reports, 21-year-old D’Angelo Fleener, and 20-year-old Trent Gibson, were arrested following a brief pursuit with Wamac police.

Centralia police received a report around 12:30 Tuesday morning of two men who went to the front door of a home on Beech and when no one answered they returned to their SUV and began firing guns in the air.

The two then fled the area, but a Wamac police officer spotted their vehicle, which matched the description of the SUV leaving the scene of the shooting.

The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled in the opposite direction at a high rate of speed. That resulted in a brief pursuit before Gibson finally stopped the vehicle.

While police have been unable to locate the gun, they reportedly found 30 bullets inside the SUV that came from the same model of casings found in the street where the shots were reportedly fired. Police believe the gun was likely thrown from the vehicle.

Both Fleener and Gibson were taken into custody for alleged unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon. Gibson was also charged with reckless driving and running two stop signs.
