CLINTON COUNTY — A 32-year-old Vandalia man who was sentenced last month in Jefferson County court to six-years in prison has now been sentenced to an additional 6-years after he pleaded guilty to similar charges in Clinton County.

Ryan Smith was sentenced Monday in Clinton County to concurrent six-year prison terms after pleading guilty to Class 1 felony delivery of between 1 and 15 grams of heroin and Class X felony delivery of between 15 and 100 grams of methamphetamine.

He was facing Class X felony delivery of between 15 and 100 grams of meth, two Class 1 felony charges, one for the manufacture with the intent to deliver cocaine and one for the manufacture with the intent to deliver heroin, two counts Class 3 possession of Schedule 4 narcotics, Two counts possession Scheduled 1 and 2 narcotics, Class 4 felony delivery of between 10 and 30 grams of cannabis, and misdemeanor possession of hypodermic syringe.

Smith pleaded guilty last month in Jefferson County to Class 2 felony delivery of less than 5-grams of meth, in exchange for two Class X felony counts of armed violence, and Class 3 felony delivery of a non-narcotic controlled substance being dismissed.

In addition to the 6-year prison sentence, the Jefferson County court ordered the $10,000 cash bond he had posted a few days after his arrest to be applied to $10,000 in fines and fees.

While he is serving his sentences from Clinton and Jefferson counties, Smith is still facing charges in Bond County for Class X delivery of between 15 and 100 grams of meth, Class 1 felonies possessing between 15 and 100 grams of meth and intent to deliver between 1 and 15 grams of Fentanyl, as well as Class 3 charges of possession of a firearm with a revoked FOID, and delivery of a controlled substance, along with two Class 4 felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and one of intent to deliver between 10 and 30 grams of cannabis.

He’s next due in Bond County court August 8, for a final pre-trial hearing.
