VANDALIA — Authorities in Vandalia are warning of counterfeit currency in the area.

According to reports, an unknown subject attempted to use counterfeit currency Sunday night at the Denny’s restaurant in Vandalia.

Police responded to a deceptive practice report from the restaurant and found that a subject attempted to pay with the fake money and fled the restaurant when confronted by Denny’s employees.

The subject had already left the area when officers arrived.
