MOUNT VERNON — The Mt. Vernon Police Department is asking the public for help in locating and identifying an armed and masked subject who attempted to enter a home in the early morning hours Tuesday.

According to reports, around midnight Tuesday, officers responded to the 2500 block of College Avenue about a subject, who was wearing a ski mask, attempting to enter a residence and displaying a gun.

The subject is described as a slender male, approximately 5-feet 9-inches tall, with a muscular build.

The Jefferson County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help in identifying the offender.
