WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 30-year-old Addieville man was killed Monday night in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in Washington County.
According to Illinois State Police, Zachary Waltrip was traveling eastbound around 7:45 p.m. Monday, when a tire on his 2003 Ford 4-wheel drive truck failed, sending the Ford into a skid.
The truck apparently slid off the roadway with its front end striking a tree in the right tree line. Waltrip became trapped in the vehicle, which subsequently caught fire.
The Washington County Coroner was called to the scene and declared Waltrip dead at the scene.
The truck was towed from the scene. The interstate remained open throughout the incident.
