Levi Lovell was reportedly intoxicated when he shouted in candidate Betsy Dirksen Londrigan’s face and then punches someone at her campaign event in Springfield, according to WCIA-TV
WCIA Capital Bureau Chief Mark Maxwell has posted video of Lovell apparently chasing Londrigan and her husband around the bar asking menacing questions with his cell phone in their faces.
The videos show Lovell repeatedly being asked to leave the event, which led him to claim they were discriminating against him because he’s black. He was ultimately led out of the bar and that’s when he allegedly began throwing punches.
Police were called and Lovell was arrested. He remained in the Sangamon County Jail Thursday afternoon..
Lovell’s recorded behavior Wednesday night is reminiscent of the behaviors Davis had said he feared would upstage a town hall if he ever held one.
According to the Davis campaign, when they were informed of Lovell’s arrest and actions, he was terminated as the campaign field director.
