CHICAGO (AP) — Suburban Chicago police say the suspect in the 1976 slaying of a teenager may be responsible for the killing or rape of a dozen more women who went missing about that time and have never been located.

Lisle Police Detective Chris Loudon says investigators are trying to determine if Bruce Lindahl was responsible for several attacks in the area around the time he strangled 16-year-old Pamela Maurer.

And he says Lindahl may have plotted to kill others who were able to escape his clutches either by luck or their own actions. Lindahl died during a fatal attack on a teenage boy in 1981.
