MARION COUNTY — A 17-year-old Centralia juvenile male arrested Wednesday following a high-speed pursuit has been formally charged Thursday in Marion County Court with home invasion, unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated fleeing and eluding police.

The teen is accused of entering his ex-girlfriend’s residence on Maulding Drive Wednesday morning where he first assaulted the new boyfriend and then assaulted the female. She was treated at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for injuries she suffered.

The new boyfriend reportedly fled the home on foot and the teen reportedly took the boyfriend’s gray Ford SUV.

Police were called and after they spotted the teen driving the Ford a pursuit ensued that reached speeds of up to 115 miles per hour on Route 161 near Schwartz Road.

The chase ended when two Centralia officers executed a pit maneuver as the teen was attempting to enter Interstate 57 northbound from Route 161.

Both squads and the suspect’s vehicle were heavily damaged but the teen reportedly struggled with officers as they took him into custody.

He is being held in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.

He’s next scheduled to appear in Marion County Court March 11 for a preliminary hearing and first appearance with his court-appointed attorney.
