The Washington County Health Department is reporting its first COVID-19-related death.
According to state health officials, a Washington County man in his 80s is the county’s first resident to succumb to coronavirus-related complications.
Washington County is currently reporting 69 lab-confirmed cases of the virus, with three of those in isolation, three hospitalized and 62 who have been released from isolation.
The Clinton County Health Department on Wednesday reported 13 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing their total number of cases to 432, with 93 of those cases remaining in home isolation, three hospitalized, 319 who have been released from isolation, and 17 who have died.
The Jefferson County health department on Thursday reported five new cases of COVID-19, with two long-term care facilities reporting one resident each has tested positive, with one being hospitalized.
Another three people in the community have tested positive. Those three cases include a girl under the age of 13, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 70s.
Thursday’s new cases bring the number of Jefferson County residents to have tested positive for the coronavirus to 325, with 78 residents currently in isolation, 207 released from isolation and 20 who have died.
Marion County health officials on Wednesday reported two more residents have tested positive for COVID-19. They are a woman in her 70s and a woman in her 20s. Both are reportedly doing well and are on isolation.
Currently, there are 170 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Marion County, with 29 cases remaining active and 141 who have been released from isolation. The county’s positivity rate is 2.88%.
Fayette County officials on Wednesday reported one new positive case – a woman in her 60s. Her case brings the county total to 72, with 15 who remain in isolation, 54 who have been released, and three deaths.
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced 1,834 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 24 additional confirmed deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 200,427 cases, including 7,696 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases from August 6 – August 12 is 4.0%.
As of Wednesday night, 1,628 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 383 patients were in the ICU and 127 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
