MARION COUNTY — The Marion County Health Department on Thursday reported two new COVID-related deaths, bringing the county-wide death total to 157 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The two deaths were in a woman in her 40s and a woman in her 60s. Neither woman was a long-term care resident and neither woman was vaccinated.
In addition to the two deaths, health officials reported 53 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 for Wednesday and Thursday.
Of the 53 new cases, none are long-term care residents; 15 are school age; 2 are 4-years-old or younger; 36 are community spread, 17 were spread from household/close contacts and 12 were fully vaccinated.
Currently there are 203 active cases in Marion County – eight are hospitalized and 195 are in isolation.
Of the eight cases in the hospital, none are long-term care residents and none are on ventilators, one is in their 80s, one in their 70s, two in their 60s and four are in their 50s.
