SALEM — Salem police are investigating a Thursday morning home invasion that sent a male occupant of the home to the hospital for treatment of head and facial injuries.

According to Salem police, they responded around 10:30 a.m. Thursday to a home in the 300 block of North Pearl. A caller had informed them that a male victim was inside the home and needed to go to the hospital after being battered by three black males.

Upon their arrival, the male victim reportedly told police three black men forced their way into the home and beat him. He noted all three were armed with handguns. United Medical transported the victim to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police later located one vehicle believed involved in the incident at Lynwood Apartments on Hardacre Road in Salem. One individual known to drive the vehicle was questioned but no arrests have been made at this time.

The incident remains under investigation and no other information regarding suspects or vehicles is being released until verified by police.

The Illinois Secretary of State Police and the Illinois State Police assisted in the investigation.
