MARION COUNTY — A 21-year-old Salem man was formally charged in Marion County Court Monday in connection with the reported burglary of a home south of Salem over the weekend.
Robert Gott Jr. was charged in court with Class 1 felony residential burglary, Class 4 felony theft and misdemeanor criminal trespass to a residence.
Gott was arrested Friday night for the alleged burglary of a home in the 200 block of West Warmoth Street that morning.
An alert neighbor notified Salem police after noticing a man enter a home and then leave a while later with a TV and a bag of clothes.
After Gott was developed as a suspect in the burglary a tip came in giving police his possible whereabouts.
He was reportedly hiding under the bed of the home in the 400 block of East Church in Salem.
