MARION COUNTY — A 32-year-old Kinmundy woman was sentenced Tuesday in Marion County Court to 18 years in prison after earlier pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a child under the age of six and for creating child pornography.

Vickie Odem pleaded guilty in April to two of six counts accusing her of sexually assaulting a child and creating child pornography. She was sentenced Tuesday to 12 years in prison for the sexual assault charge to be served consecutively with a 6 year sentence handed down on the child pornography charge. Odem was additionally ordered to serve 3 years to life of mandatory supervised release at the end of her prison sentence.

She has remained in the Marion County Jail since her arrest nearly two years ago in Clay County on a $500,000 Marion County warrant charging her with two Class X felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 6 and four Class X felony counts child pornography depicting a child under the age of 13.
