Stephen Alan Bundy, 74, of Walnut Hill, died at 11:20 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2022, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was born March 8, 1948, in Centralia, the son of Neil and Melba (Sipes) Bundy.  He married Saundra L. Johnson on June 22, 1985, at the First Apostolic Church of Centralia, and she preceded him in death on October 31, 2020.  He later married Nancy E. Koy, on July 24, 2021, at The Wedding Barn in Iuka, and she survives in Walnut Hill.

Mr. Bundy graduated from Rome Grade School, Centralia Township High School in 1967, and Kaskaskia College.  He also attended Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.  He became a member of Little Grove Christian Church in 1962, and was baptized at Oil Belt Christian Service Camp in Flora.  He became interested in retailing and sales in college, and after graduating in 1970, he sold insurance.  In the 1980’a he operated a grain farm, and worked as a teamster on construction jobs, and in 1986, worked for his father-in-law at Johnson Excavating Company.

He was always an avid reader, and in the 1990’s he became interested in buying USA made products and selling them overseas to importers.  He formed Midwest Exporting Company and sold the products of Country Bob’s Inc., to Germany, and soy lecithin from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Taiwan.  In 1998, along with his first wife, Saundra, and daughter, Meghan, they formed Goshen Trail Vineyard.  Seven acres with four varieties of French hybrid wine grapes were planted 3 miles Southeast of Walnut Hill, and over 50 tons were sold yearly to Illinois wineries, until the vineyard was sold in 2008.

In 2008, he developed Snow Creek Funding Group, for the purpose of investigating the location of missing heirs and other individuals due unclaimed funds.  He enjoyed doing genealogy research, gardening, target shooting, reloading, bass fishing, and spending time with family, friends, and especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Bundy is survived by his wife, Nancy Bundy of Walnut Hill;  one daughter, Meghan E. Baldridge of Fort Dodge, Iowa;  grandchildren Emma Grace Baldridge and Hunter Daniel Baldridge of Fort Dodge, Iowa;  sister, Linda Etling of St. Louis, Missouri;  brothers, Curtis Bundy and wife Laura of Chatham, Illinois, Michael Lindsay of Bloomington, Indiana, and Jeffrey Bundy and wife Susan of Dix;  sister-in-law, Phyllis Boldrey and husband Roy of Woodlawn;  and several nieces and nephewsand cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Saundra Bundy.

Funeral services for Mr. Bundy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Ronald Periman officiating.  Burial will follow at Little Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Friday, September 2, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
