Dean Parker, of New Braunfels, Texas and formerly, Mt. Vernon, Illinois, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the age of 89. Dean was born on April 9, 1933 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Elmer and Bernice Parker, who preceded him in death. Dean met and later married Shirley Carlton in February, 1953.

Dean proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and upon his discharge returned to Mt. Vernon where he owned/operated Dean’s Trim Shop and Dean’s Interiors until the mid eighties where he, Shirley and Deana , moved to Texas where he remained until his death.

Dean is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley, and three daughters, Kathy (Parker) Campbell and husband, George, Debbie (Parker) Frees and husband, Mike and Deana (Parker) Cady and husband, Wade, all of Texas.

He proudly was called, “Daddy Dean” by his surviving seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren all residing in Texas, a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Parker and was “Uncle Dean” to five nieces and nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dr. Curtis A. Parker.

Dean was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Vernon and also the First Methodist Church of Seguin, Texas until his declining health.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel.
