JEFFERSON COUNTY — A possible confession could be introduced during a Tuesday jury trial in Jefferson County Court for a 26-year-old Mt. Vernon man charged with 20 counts Class X felony possession of child pornography.
Zachary E. Terry was arrested in May after Mt. Vernon police investigated a complaint of domestic violence.
As a result of this investigation, MVPD officers arrested Terry for alleged Aggravated Domestic Battery.
As police continued their investigation, they reportedly discovered evidence indicating Terry was possibly in possession of child pornography.
MVPD officers requested the assistance of JCSO Detectives assigned to the Department of Homeland Security Cybercrimes Task Force. Evidence was collected and forensically examined.
The examination results led to Terry being charged on May 18th while still in custody at the Jefferson County Jail on the original Aggravated Domestic Battery charge with Possession / Reproduction of Child Pornography, victim under 13.
During a final pre-trial hearing Thursday, Judge Jerry Crisel denied a defense motion seeking to have Terry’s alleged confession suppressed. The next scheduled event in the case is the Tuesday jury trial.
