Jimmy (Jim) Don Settle, went to Glory on October 3, 2022, on the same land and location where he was born. During his last few weeks, he was lovingly cared for by his beloved granddaughter, Amy Arnold – May Lubinskas, precious and devoted friends, Beverly Hart and Pam and Dennis Graham. The family also thanks John Kelly who visited Jim often and always brought a smile to his face.

A bachelor for many years, Jim married the love of his life, Betty W. Kenney on May 1, 1971, and also inherited a family. Betty proceeded him in death. Jim was also proceeded in death by his mother and father, Ruby and Frank Settle, an older brother, Kelley Settle, a niece, Susan Settle, brother in law, Wayne McDaniel, a son in law, John Wesley Larson, and five great grandchildren.

Jim farmed in Ina for many years and won many farming awards. He was proud and happy to live on the family farm for most of his life.

Jim is survived by two brothers, Joe (Mary Ann) Settle of Jacksonvile, Florida and niece Lisa(Doug) Howe and great nephew, Dillon.

Brother Bill (Crystal) Settle of Ewing, Illinois, nephew Greg Settle, and great nephews, Jackson and Wesley, nephew Austin (Molly) Settle and great nephews Emmitt, Kash and Deklan, and great niece, Ellie and nephew, Aaron (Briana) and great nephew AJ.

Jim’s sister Lois Settle McDaniel of Indianapolis, Indiana, and niece,Connie Helmer and great nephews Gerald and Aaron and great niece, Carrie, niece Mary Jane (Mickey) and great niece Samantha, and nephew John Wayne (Melissa) and three great nieces, Emma, Amelia and Ava, and niece Patty and great nephews Burkett and Kansas, and great nieces, Debbra and Shelby and cousins Lloyd and JoAnn Settle of Ina, Illinois, and Loyd and Terry Settle of Boone, Iowa.

From his brother Kelley (Norma) Settle who have passed, Jim has two nieces, Julie (Alan) Stolzer and great-nephew Benjamen and great-niece Hannah. Also niece Diane (Mary Buchanan) Settle.

From his marriage to Betty, Jim inherited three adult daughters, seven grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren with a great great granddaughter due in November.

Step-Daughter Roby Larson of Grimes, Iowa, granddaughter Bethany (Pat) Duthie, and two great grandsons, Zachary and Luke. Grandson, John (Julie) Larson Jr and four great grandsons, Sam, Josh, Tate, and Joey

Step-Daughter Danielle (Dave) Kenney Stitt of Midlothian, Virginia and grandson, Spencer Stitt and great grandson, Gavin: and granddaughter, Susan (Mike) Fitak and two great grandsons, Brayton and Hunter.

Step-Daughter Kathleen (Bobby) Kenney May of Midlothian, Virginia with granddaughter, Amy (Peter) Lubinskas and two great granddaughters, Alexis and Bella; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Dylan) Marker and three great granddaughters, Kadyn, Adalyn and Evelyn; and one grandson, Virgil (Amanda) May with great granddaughters, Nora and Lily, and great grandson Virgil.

We lovingly called him Grandpa Jim. He loved farming, woodworking, college basketball, and John Deere tractors and memorabilia. The family has no doubt that Betty was waiting for Jim with open arms at the gates of Heaven.

Grandpa Jim requested no visitation. The family will have a graveside service on Friday, October 7th, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Kirk Cemetery.
