CLINTON COUNTY — The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the fatal shooting early Wednesday morning of a man in rural Clinton County.

According to the sheriff’s office, they received multiple 9-1-1 calls around 1:11 a.m. Wednesday of a shooting at 610 Main Street in Jamestown, where emergency responders found a deceased male.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin. However, a 52-year-old male was taken into custody at the scene and is being held in the Clinton County Jail awaiting the filing of charges.

The sheriff’s office says the shooting was not a random incident and the two men were acquaintances of some kind. The investigation is active and ongoing. No other details have been released. Jamestown is about 18 miles northwest of Carlyle.
