CLINTON COUNTY — A 25-year-old New Baden man is in the Clinton County Jail, charged with the weekend shooting death of 24-year-old Alexis Maki.
According to Clinton County State’s Attorney JD. Brandemeyer, Emmett Metzger was charged Monday in Clinton County Court with four counts of felony first-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing Alexis Maki on or around Saturday, November 4.
In a press release issued late Monday afternoon, Brandemeyer says that if convicted, Metzger could be sentenced to between 20 to 60 years in prison, with the possibility of a life sentence.
The press release did not indicate how Metzger and Maki knew each other or what circumstances led to the shooting.
Judge Doug Gruenke agreed to deny Metzger a pre-trial release and the defendant is being held without bond in the Clinton County Jail.
The New Baden Police Department and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department conducted the investigation.
“I can’t begin to imagine the pain and anguish that Alexis’ family and friends are experiencing. My office will continue to seek justice and prosecute those who commit such senseless violent acts in our communities,” said the press release.
