MOUNT VERNON — The Mt. Vernon City Council agreed during its regularly scheduled meeting Monday night to seek proposals for a park and recreation market study and development of a master plan.

Mayor John Lewis told our own Jake Linder the first step is to find out if the City can afford what would likely be an indoor activity or recreation center.

Lewis notes that before spending upwards of $25 to $26 million on something, the City wants to make sure they offer the activities the community most wants and that it’s built in the right location.

The Mayor said the council would like to have the right structure built in the right location and without placing a tax increase on its residents.

The public is encouraged to share their opinions on these matters. Tell the Mayor or tell a council member what you think should be built and where it should be located.
