CENTRALIA — The Warren G. Murray Developmental Center is on the hunt for a new director, less than a year after seating its latest leader.

According to the Department of Human Services, Jeff Wehking has worked at the Murray Center since being hired as its director in February 2023.

Wehking had previously worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections, where he will be returning for a new opportunity.

DHS says Director Wehking gave a six-week notice and “IDHS is now in the process of identifying a new director for Murray Center and will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of residents during this transition in leadership.”
