SPRINGFIELD – On Monday, House Republican Leader Tony McCombie released her list of House Republican Leadership team members.
Once again, State Rep. Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) was chosen to serve as House Republican Floor Leader. Windhorst says he is honored by the trust placed in him by McCombie.
Representative Windhorst began his 4th term as State Representative last week during inaugural ceremonies for the 104th General Assembly. This will be his second consecutive General Assembly serving as House Republican Floor Leader.
“I am grateful to Leader McCombie for once again selecting me to serve on her Leadership team, and doubly honored to serve as House Republican Floor Leader. In this role, I will ensure that southern Illinoisans will have a voice on every bill that moves through the General Assembly,” Windhorst said. “Serving as House Republican Floor Leader is a great responsibility, as I am tasked with reading every bill that comes to the House Floor and directing debate and questions from the Republican side of the aisle on legislation that is both simple and controversial,” Windhorst said. “It is my job as Floor Leader to ensure transparency for the taxpayers of Illinois and bring attention to legislation harmful to individuals, working families, and state finances. I look forward to continuing this important work in the 104th General Assembly.”
House Republican Leader Tony McCombie says Windhorst has fulfilled the role of House Republican Floor Leader well, and his re-appointment to the position was an easy decision.
“Patrick Windhorst is one of the most talented legislators in our caucus. As our Floor Leader, he has been thorough, tough, and fair. Patrick excels at holding supermajority Democrats accountable for the legislation they advance through the House,” McCombie said. “I look forward to Patrick continuing to stand up for the best interests of taxpayers while we tackle the many challenges that lie ahead in the 104th General Assembly.”
