
Mary Anna Haile, 91, of Belle Rive, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior at 2:57 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL. Mary was born on July 5, 1933 in Hoopeston, IL, the daughter of Grant & Ruth (Cooper) Gocking. On December 27, 1951 she married Harold William Haile and they were blest with 65 years of marriage until his passing on April 8, 2017.
Mary was a faithful member of the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a longtime member of the Jefferson County Home Cooperative Extension. She was a lifetime farmer’s wife and later cherished her time in semi-retirement by spending winters with Harold in Mission, Texas.
Survivors include a son Tim (Pat) Haile of Belle Rive, and daughters Sharon (Vince) Mitchell of McLeansboro and Crista (Alan) Grewe of Greenville, Kentucky. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Susan Shull, Gordon Allen, Joshua Haile, Patrick Haile, Hannah Savitzky, Bethany Sutton, Megan Swartz, Brody Mitchell, Lauren Shan, and Rachel King; 22 great-grandchildren plus 2 on the way; a sister-in-law Wanda Sparks, and brothers-in-law: Ray, Earl, and Don Haile and Lynn Estes.
She was preceded in death by her parents Grant & Ruth Gocking, her husband Harold William Haile, her daughter Dawn Allen, brothers Floyd and Ted, and sisters Retha, Cecile, and Alice.
Funeral services for Mary Anna Haile will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church in Belle Rive, IL with Rev. Richard McCormick officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday morning on February 24 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow the funeral service at Flint/Belle Rive Cemetery in Belle Rive.
At the family’s request, memorial contributions may be made to the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church and will be accepted at the church or at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
